POLICE stopped a driver after seeing him overtake a cyclist "far too close."

Officers in north Dorset issued advice to the driver this morning and said he "was aware and apologised."

A spokesman said: "This cyclist has a high vis coat, flashing rear red light and was on a long stretch of road when an overtaking car came far too close.

"Fortunately the team were at hand and advised the car driver of his error - he was aware and apologised. Be aware of your abilities and give cyclists space."
