TWO people were taken to hospital after a car overturned in Poole on Monday night.

The driver and the passenger were both injured in the single-vehicle crash involving a blue Ford Fiesta ST-2 in Holes Bay Road.

The driver, a man aged in his 20s from New Milton, sustained injuries to his back and hand.

His passenger, a 19-year-old man from Bournemouth, sustained back pain and an injury to his ankle.

They were both taken to hospital for treatment.

Police were called to the scene at 9.20pm. Officers attended along with the fire and ambulance services.

Three fire crews from Poole attended and freed one of the occupants from the vehicle. The other casualty was being seen to be paramedics when firefighters arrived.

Police Constable Mark Burton, of the traffic unit, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken to police to please get in touch.

“I am also keen to hear from any motorists who were travelling in the area and may have captured the incident on dashcam footage.”

The local authority was also asked to attend due to glass on the road.

Holes Bay Road was closed for almost three hours to allow emergency services to deal with the incident.

Recovery was requested for the car and the road reopened just after midnight on Tuesday.
