THREE people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was found in a Bournemouth road with stab wounds.

Police were alerted at 9.47pm last night to reports of a man with a knife in Kimberley Road in Southbourne.

A search of the area was carried out and a man was found in Norwood Place - almost a mile away - with stab wounds to his chest and hand.

The injured man, aged in his 40s, has been taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A search of the area was carried out by officers, assisted by the NPAS helicopter.

At one point there were around 10 police cars in the area of Norwood Place and Darracott Road.

The NPAS helicopter was heard above the Southbourne and Kings Park area for around four hours after the initial call.

A 34-year-old woman and a 61-year-old man, both from Bournemouth, and another 31-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. They are all currently assisting officers with their enquiries.

A full investigation is underway into the incident.

Cordons were put in place in Kimberley Road, Stamford Road, Seabourne Road and Norwood Place to allow for the scenes to be examined.
