EMERGENCY services were called to a three-vehicle crash on the A31 in East Dorset which involved seven casualties.

Police, fire and ambulance crews attended the scene near the Lake Gates Roundabout shortly before 3pm on Saturday, December 12.

The response from the services included two fire engines from the station in Wimborne.

A spokesperson for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service control room said: "Two Wimborne pumps were mobilised to report of vehicle smoking following RTC on A31 near Lake Gates Roundabout, Ashington.

"On arrival crews found a three-vehicle RTC with no persons trapped, no fire and seven casualties. Crews assisted with casualty care whilst awaiting South Western Ambulance Service."

There were reports of traffic delays on the A31 while the collision was dealt with.
