A MOTHER who went on a foul-mouthed rampage through a school and attacked staff because her daughter was being bullied has been fined.

Charlene Wicks, 34, flew into a rage after being ‘fobbed off’ by teachers about her daughter being picked on.

The mum-of-three stormed through the corridors of Cranborne Middle School and barged into lessons looking to confront a teacher.

When she reached music teacher Nicola Jennings’s class, assistant head Rebecca Cain blocked the entrance.

Wicks then assaulted Miss Cain by pushing her out of the way before screaming at Miss Jennings in front of pupils.

She was heard to shout out expletive remarks in front of shocked children.

Miss Jennings had to be protected by two members of staff before Wicks left the building.

Lee Turner, prosecuting, told magistrates in Poole: “Wicks was shouting, screaming and swearing with children present."

He added: “Miss Cain saw a pupil nearby looking distressed.

“About 20 minutes after she asked staff to phone police they arrived.

“She says ‘I was shocked that a parent would behave in such an aggressive and out of control manner. She showed no thought or consideration for the fact there were children present hearing her screaming abuse and swearing at the teachers. I had to send an email out to all the parents.

“’In all my years of teaching I have never seen a parent behave like that. She showed a total lack of respect for the teachers, the children and in fact the school as a whole’.”

The court heard that Wicks decided to go to the school to see Miss Jennings face-to-face over concerns her daughter was being persistently bullied by another pupil. She was told at reception that Miss Jennings was unavailable but entered the school anyway and began searching classrooms looking for her.

Terry Scanlan, defending, said: “The trigger for Mrs Wicks’s behaviour was the issue of the bullying of her daughter. None of her behaviour was pre-planned, it just escalated in the moment.”

Wicks was banned from the school for several weeks after the incident, which happened on November 29 last year.

Mr Scanlan said she was apologetic and has since repaired her relationship with the school.

He said: “She is remorseful for what has happened and she has apologised to the school.

“It occurred over a year ago and there has been no repeat of this behaviour. It was an isolated incident.

“The relationship with the school is now very good and very supportive. The school is positively dealing with the issue of bullying.”

Wicks, from Wimborne, pleaded guilty to assaulting Miss Cain and to a charge of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress to Miss Jennings at an earlier hearing. She was fined £333 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £33 surcharge.
