COULD some winter weather finally be on the way?

Bournemouth-based weather enthusiast Dorset Snow said a cold front is set to bring some frosty mornings and cool days in what will be our first taste of winter.

Posting on Twitter this afternoon he said: "The cold front has moved in from the north and it sparks the beginning of a change in our weather.

“Cool days with light winds from the north or east. More sunshine and frosty mornings. The first signs of winter.”

Temperatures are expected to stay in single digits for the next few days.

As previously reported on the Bournemouth Echo website, local forecasters said it was too early to predict if we would see a white Christmas.

The Met Office says it can accurately forecast if snow if likely to fall on Christmas Day up to five days in advance.

A spokesperson said: “In terms of the statistical likelihood of snow based on climatology, we know that a snowflake has fallen somewhere in the UK on Christmas Day 38 times in the last 54 years, so we can probably expect more than half of all Christmas Days to be a white Christmas.”
