IT may have been a slog for some, but organisers were over the moon when Poole Festival of Running turned out to be a record-breaking day.
Two athletes beat the course records in the Poole 10k on July 10, 2000 and a troupe of young siblings emerged victorious in two junior races.
Grace Benham, Heidi Burton and Sarah Meaker, all from Poole, took first, second and third place in the girls 10-11 age group. Then there brothers Edward Benham, Paul Burton and Daniel Meaker did the same in the boys 12-13 age group.
It was the fourth year running that the prestigious Poole 10k had run side-by-side with the equally popular series of minithon races for youngsters.
With children as young as eight taking part alongside the slightly mature 70-somethings, the festival proved popular for all ages.
As well as records being smashed by Andy Coleman and Hayley Yelling, the winners of both the male and female races, attendance was also the highest it had been.
