THESE two pictures show two things we don't have today – social interaction and sunshine.

These pictures from Ferndown Carnival were taken when the theme was the millennium and the parade was suitably infested with bugs of all shapes and sizes.

West Moors Youth Club's entry had a computer screen on their float, while Ferndown Area Youth Centre's boasted Big Ben, a bottle of bubbly and the infamous Dome.

The parade, which took place on June 4, 2000, also included the Royal British Legion's Women's section's float which took a nostalgic look back to England's 1966 World Cup victory

Ferndown Rainbow Guides float displayed a moon landing, but top honours went to the Ferndown Phoenix Musical Society in a pretty purple-decorated tableaux that advertised their production of My Fair Lady.
