A MAN who had a kitchen knife in public and burgled a Bournemouth pharmacy in separate incidents has been given a suspended prison sentence.

Jamie Shakeal Bastafield, aged 36, appeared at Poole Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, November 11, in relation to two counts of burglary and one of possession of a bladed article.

On October 22, Bastafield raided Lloyds Pharmacy in Christchurch Road, Boscombe, and stole £870 worth of perfume. This came four days after he had trespassed in Boots in Commercial Road, Bournemouth, with intent to steal.

Back in May the defendant was seen with a kitchen knife in a public area of Windham Road, Springbourne.

The October crimes took place while he was subject to community and conditional discharge orders for previous offending.

Having admitted the breaches of these orders, the burglaries and the knife crime, magistrates handed Bastafield, whose address was given as Grosvenor Gardens, Bournemouth, an overall sentence of eight months imprisonment, suspended for 18 months.
