MANY restaurants have turned to takeaway orders due to the latest coronavirus lockdown measures.

If you’re hankering after a roast and want to help support a local business, here’s a list of just some of the places serving up traditional Sunday dinners across the area.

Restaurant Roots

Restaurants Roots in Belle Vue Road, Southbourne, is offering a two-course Sunday roast takeaway from November 15 between 12pm and 3pm. It includes Sunday roast and a dessert for £20 per person.

This week’s box contains sliced rump of beef, braised red cabbage, honey and thyme roasted roots vegetables, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and red wine sauce. Dessert is apple and blackberry crumble with clotted cream.

Truly’s of Westbourne

Truly’s in Seamoor Road has roast options for carnivores and herbivorous and is delivering roasts between 11am and 1pm on Sundays. People are encouraged to place their orders more than a day in advance and must be ordered before 8pm on the Saturday but customers are advised to book early to avoid disappointment.

Sunday roast options cost £12.50 per portion and include beef, honey mustard gammon, chicken breast, veggie beetroot, kale and goats’ cheese wellington and vegan pumpkin and polenta loaf.

All come served with garlic and herb roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding (gluten free option available), mustard & rosemary roast parsnips, orange and fennel seed roast carrots, sautéed savoy cabbage and gravy/veggie gravy. Sides and desserts available for an additional charge.

Sunday Roast Deliveries

Sunday roast fans will have had Sunday Roast Deliveries on speed dial before lockdown and they are continuing to keep people well fed. They deliver within a five-mile radius of Winton and people can choose from roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, lemon and thyme roast turkey with sage and apricot stuffing, honey roast gammon with roast peach, mixed meats with Yorkshire pudding, vegetarian roast with Yorkshire pudding and vegan option with vegan Yorkshire pudding.

There’s also a choice of potatoes and vegetables, gravy and sauce. Plus, don’t forget your extras like cauliflower cheese, pigs in blankets and cheesy leeks.

The Lazy Roast

Based at Penn Central in Penn Hill Avenue, The Lazy Roast is serving up dinners between 12.30pm and 5pm on Sundays. Customers can choose from two meats; rump of beef, roast pork loin and turkey crown.

Roasts come served with buttered carrots, sweet red cabbage, cauliflower cheese, honey roasted parsnips, homemade Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes and gravy. Costs £13 for adults and £8 for children. 

The Owls Nest

The Owls Nest in Christchurch Road, West Parley, will be serving roasts for takeaway between 12pm and 3pm on Sundays. Customers can choose from beef, pork or lamb which all come served with homemade Yorkshire pudding and cauliflower cheese.

Roasts are priced from £10.50. Orders must be placed before 12pm on Sunday and local delivery can be arranged. A selection of ales will also be available for takeaway at £3.50 per pint.
