YESTERDAY I went to Swanage, a lovely seaside town, to see a friend and lay flowers at the memorial monument, as I can’t travel on Sunday to pay my respects to my grandfather who died in World War Two now because of the lockdown for a month.

Swanage has just started to come to life again after the last lock down, but I saw Charity shops closing again after reopening only a few weeks ago, as were cafes and shops, although some cafes are now doing takeaways.

However so many lively hoods are on the line again and may lose their business for good.

What about local transport what will they face?

They had just began to advertise for more bus drivers again now another lockdown.

Whilst acknowledging that Covid-19 exists and has caused illness and death, especially amongst people with other illnesses, I believe that lockdowns aren’t the the way forward.

It’s causing tremendous economic destruction as seen in BCP conurbation, in the media we read we’ve an increase of suicide, domestic violence and child abuse.

Also with lockdowns we have have seen people with cancer and other life threatening illness had their treatment on hold, as I’ve seen amongst family and friends, which causes great loss of life.

It doesn’t give terminally ill people the chance of life that’s so needed .

Yesterday I was watching house of Commons talk about this new lock-in, I saw a back bencher really hit the nail on the head .

They said that the lockdown has been based on a prediction that we could see 1,000 deaths a day by the end of October.

And for many people it looks as if the figures are chosen to support the policy rather than the policy being based on the figures, why we need to have a proper analysis and let us see it and make our own judgement.

I also read that actually the deaths are decreasing rather than increasing.

I myself with family all over UK, only know of one person to have had Covid-19 and be on a ventilator but they survived.

I believe we need to stop panicking and look at this again but more realistically, for the sake of this nation and Dorset.
