TWO school boys fishing in Sandbanks rushed to the rescue of a woman in distress after tripping and breaking her ankle.

And now the year six students have appealed for the woman to get in touch so they can find out how she is.

Kristian Jackson and Cameron Wicks, both 10, rushed to the nearby Haven Hotel for blankets and a cushion after the woman, who had been climbing the rocks, tripped and broke her ankle.

A friend of the woman asked the boys to help as her husband and other family members stayed by her side waiting for emergency services to arrive.

Kristian and Cameron, students at Ocean Academy, Poole, have now come forward to appeal to the woman they assisted to get in touch and said how proud they were to help.

Revealing all about the drama that unfolded unexpectedly on Saturday September 19, Cameron said: “We were standing on the rocks fishing with his dad and we could see that a lady had tripped and that she was in pain.

“It was quite a cold and windy day. We were happy to help and the staff in the hotel were really nice and happy to help too.’’

Cameron, who has been attending the Branksome Chine Surf Lifesaving club for the last two years, said his encounter on the beach had inspired him. He now wants to be a lifeguard so that he can help other people.

Kristian added: “A lady came up to us and asked if we could get a pillow and blanket.

“We had to climb a wall to get to the hotel but we did not think twice about helping. I felt proud to be able to help and the group did thank us for helping.’’

Jon Lee, the boys’ Year 6 class teacher, added: “I am so proud of Kristian and Cameron’s kind actions to help the lady on the rocks.

“It is great to see our Ocean Academy values of being kind and caring and helping others being demonstrated out of school.

“We hope that their quick actions and response helped to make the lady more comfortable whilst she waited for paramedics.”
