POLICE investigating the cause of a huge blaze at a derelict Bournemouth hotel have again appealed for information.

An investigation into the fire is ongoing and both police and fire officers visited the Gervis Road site in recent days.

"The cause of the fire is yet to be established and we are continuing to appeal for anyone with information to come forward" said a spokesman for Dorset Police.

More than 100 firefighters from Dorset and Hampshire tackled fierce flames at the former Orchid Gardens Hotel on September 23.

the property is known to have been used by squatters and also suffered a fire two years ago.

This time the flames also spread to neighbouring hotels and hundreds of guests at both the Hotel Celebrity and Britannia Hotel were evacuated.

Road closures were put in place at Bath Hill, Grove Road, Gervis Road and Meyrick Road.

Sixteen crews used main jets and hose reel jets to tackle the fire, and two aerial ladder platforms were in use.
