RESIDENTS in an East Dorset village have been advised a play area and outside gym remain closed due to an inability to restrict the numbers of people using the equipment.
West Parley Parish Council issued the warning on Facebook, along with reports that part of the facility had been vandalised.
A spokesperson for the local authority said "The play area and outside gym remain closed as the council does not have the means to restrict numbers using the facility in line with Government guidelines and more recent legislation.
"The equipment cannot be fenced due to being in greenbelt, so signs are up to inform people that the areas remain closed. Those choosing to use the equipment are doing so at their own risk.
"In addition, it appears that the sunflower swing has been vandalised so has additional measure to stop use."
