ALMOST 30 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Dorset in 24-hours.

Latest figures released by the government show 25 people tested positive for Covid 19 in the BCP Council area in the 24-hours up to 4pm on Thursday, September 24.

This now means since the start of the pandemic 1,138 people have tested positive for the virus in the local authority area.

The rate per population is 287.9.

In the Dorset Council area, a further three people tested positive bringing the overall total to 751.

The rate is 198.4.

Elsewhere, seven more cases have been confirmed in the New Forest.

The total number of confirmed cases in the district now stands at 589 with a rate of 327.1.

Yesterday, NHS officials said a further 30 people who tested positive for coronavirus had died in hospitals in England.

The total number of confirmed reported deaths in England’s hospitals is now 29,838.

None of the deaths occurred in hospitals in the south west.
