A VEHICLE fled from police by driving down the pedestrianised area of Old Christchurch Road in Bournemouth.

The green Jaguar X-type sped down Old Christchurch Road on Saturday night followed by a police car, sounding the horn to get pedestrians out the way.

Following the police chase, two people have been arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.

One of the men was also arrested on suspicion of possessing a class A and B drug with intent to supply.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “At around 9.45pm on Saturday September 19 officers attempted to stop a vehicle that had reportedly been seen driving in the pedestrianised area of Old Christchurch Road in Bournemouth.

“It was reported that the vehicle failed to stop and then travelled along the A35 and then north up the A338.

“Dorset Police received a report a short time later that the vehicle, a green Jaguar X-type, had been found unattended in the Ringwood area.

“Following searches of the area, with support from a dog unit, two people were arrested.

“A 17-year-old boy from London has been arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and failing to stop for police.

“An 18-year-old man from Verwood was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.

“He was also reportedly found in possession of a quantity of suspected illegal drugs and was further arrested on suspicion of possessing a class B drug and possessing a class A drug with intent to supply.

“Both have been released under investigation pending further enquiries.”
