DORSET Police are appealing for residents in the Ferndown to remain vigilant against rogue traders after several reported cases in the area.
Local have informed officers of individuals coming to the threshold of their homes offering work on their gardens.
Both Dorset Police and Trading Standards have advised residents against using doorstep traders and instead use “recommendations from trusted sources” for gardening or building work.
A police spokesman said: “We have received numerous reports of residents within the Ferndown area being approached on their doorstep and being offered garden work.
“Prices were very high for works offered and no leaflets, paperwork or written quotes were provided.
“If you need work doing in the garden or on your home use recommendations from trusted sources. You can search this on Trading Standards Buy With Confidence Scheme.
“Please keep an eye out for neighbours who may be vulnerable.”
