OFFICERS carried out searches in Bournemouth after spotting a suspected stolen vehicle in the town.

Dorset Police received a report on the evening of Friday, September 11, that a car, which had been reported as stolen the previous night, had been seen near the Richmond Hill roundabout.

The vehicle was later found in Coy Pond Road however its occupants reportedly decamped from the car.

Searches were carried out, which are understood to have included the NPAS helicopter, of the local area. Two people were eventually located and detained.

A Dorset Police spokesman said: "We received a report at 10.30pm on Friday, September 11, that a suspected stolen vehicle had been sighted in the area of the Richmond Hill roundabout in Bournemouth.

"The vehicle was reported to have been stolen from an address in Bournemouth on the night of Thursday, September 10.

"The vehicle was subsequently located on Coy Pond Road and the occupants reportedly decamped from the car.

"Following searches of the area, two people were located nearby and detained.

"A 17-year-old boy from Bournemouth and a 20-year-old Poole man were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle. They have been released under investigation pending further enquiries."

Residents reported hearing the NPAS helicopter overhead in the Branksome Wood Road area on Friday night and seeing a vehicle being recovered from the Coy Pond Road area.
