A PREGNANT python had to be freed by fire crews after it became stuck under a kitchen door.

Shortly before 2am on Thursday, crews were called to Melbourne Road, Boscombe to reports of a python snake trapped under a door.

A hydraulic door opener and small tools were used to release the snake.

A spokesperson for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We received a call at 1:59am this morning about a pet snake that had gotten herself trapped under a door.

"A crew from Springbourne went to the property on Melbourne Road, Bournemouth and found a pregnant female python wedged beneath a kitchen door.

"Firefighters used small tools and a hydraulic door opener to remove the door – the stop came at 02:24am. She was unharmed."
