A CASUALTY with a broken ankle was evacuated by lifeboat after suffering a broken ankle at Dancing Ledge.
Both Swanage lifeboats were launched to help coastguards from Swanage and St Albans just before 6pm yesterday.
The member of the public had fallen on the lowest level of the ledges, near Langton Matravers, and coastguards decided that evacuation by boat was the safest option.
Crew members were placed ashore along with a stretcher and Entonox, a pain-relieving gas. The casualty’s leg was immobilised and a transfer via D class inshore lifeboat to the Shannon class all-weather lifeboat took place.
Both boats and the casualty made their way back to the boathouse where the casualty was handed over to a waiting ambulance. The boats were then washed down and made ready for the next incident.
