A "WONDERFUL" great-grandmother passed away after a fall at home.

Mabel Fryatt, 96, from Highcliffe suffered a number of injuries including fractures to her spine after she fell at home on October 6, an inquest revealed.

Mrs Fryatt was found on the floor near her front door by her carer, who dialled 999 to get her the help she needed.

Mrs Fryatt was taken to Southampton General Hospital where she was made comfortable and looked after by a number of doctors and nurses who "instantly fell in love with her".

Jane Neale, Mrs Fryatt's granddaughter, described her as a "wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother" who enjoyed socialising, hosting dinner parties with her family and dancing.

She added that Mrs Fryatt loved taking long walks with her beloved husband Reg and their dog.

Mrs Fryatt was sadly widowed, and lost her daughter Anne in 2018, but despite this she continued to live her life independently.

Mrs Fryatt passed away in hospital on October 8 last year.
