MOTORISTS experienced delays heading into Bournemouth this afternoon due to a crash on the A338.
Police were called the collision, which took place on the southbound carriageway between Blackwater junction and Cooper Dean roundabout shortly after 2.30pm.
While traffic was described as being heavy, vehicles were able to use the new roundabout for Wessex Fields to divert around the scene of the incident and continue on into Bournemouth.
A spokesperson for Dorset Traffic Cops said: "RTC A338 Southbound between Blackwater Junction and Cooper Dean Roundabout. Recovery en route.
"Traffic heavy but flowing as we are utilising the new roundabout by the water treatment plant as an additional lane."
The incident was cleared by 3.30pm.
As reported, a crash on the northbound carriageway near Ashley Heath on Saturday evening caused long delays for beach-goers leaving the area after a day at the seaside.
