VEHICLES parked 'irresponsibly' in Poole are being towed away this afternoon.

Many seafront car parks and designated bays have been full since Saturday morning on another hot day on the Dorset coast.

However, rather than finding a safe and sensible place to park, a "large number" of motorists are continuing to ignore the rules.

Following warnings in recent weeks, cars can still be seen parked illegally and BCP Council now has powers across the conurbation to act.

An officer from Poole Police said: "You said we did. Due to the large number of people parking irresponsibly the towing has started.

"Please park in designated bays and car parks only."

The video below shows the scene in Poole this afternoon as a vehicle is lifted into a recovery truck before being taken away.

As reported, BCP Council will run a trial of their effectiveness until the end of September before deciding whether to make them permanent.

Cabinet member for transport, councillor Andy Hadley, said there was “no choice but to take action” in response to issues seen earlier this summer.
