A TWO-year-old Poole girl who may have saved her mum’s life has reached the final 10 selection stage in the Amplifon Awards for Brave Britons 2020 Young Hero category.

Sophia Mizen reached the selection stage out of about 50 nominations in the Young Hero category chosen by the public from around the UK for her life-saving act.

When Sophia's mum Samantha collapsed in the kitchen, Sophia unlocked her mum's mobile phone using the finger sensor, and video called her grandmother Debbie Baker 160 miles away in Herefordshire.

When Sophia kept repeating her mum was poorly and showed her unconscious on the floor, Debbie called the West Midlands Ambulance who relayed the call to the South Western Ambulance Service.

Medics discovered that Samantha had suffered a stomach bug which had caused her to pass out due to dehydration.

Sophia and her brother Ethan got their mum a pillow and blanket and waited for the ambulance to arrive.

Four finalists will be selected in each category of the Amplifon Awards and the winner will be announced in October.
