A MAJOR search was launched last night after concerns for the welfare of a woman on Southbourne beach.
Officers on the ground were assisted by the NPAS helicopter in the search, which took place from 8.30pm.
A police spokesman said: "Dorset Police received reports at around 8.30pm on Monday August 3 raising concern for the welfare of a woman aged in her 40s who was believed to be on Southbourne beach in Bournemouth.
"Officers attended and carried out a search of the area, assisted by the NPAS helicopter.
"The woman was located at around 10pm and taken to hospital by the ambulance service to receive the appropriate care.
