POOLE Lifeboat Station will host a virtual lifeboat week, in a bid to make up for lost donations due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Donation boxes around Poole have been removed and the museum and shop, which usually welcomes 22,000 a year, has been closed meaning a lot of funds have been lost,
Therefore, the station will host a virtual lifeboat week between July 27 and August 2.
There will be a virtual dog show, station tour, sea safety videos, a ‘knot challenge’ and quizzes among other activities.
A spokesperson for the lifeboat station said: “We have a huge void in our funds, we are a charity that relies on the public generously donating, not government funded and our boats are manned by volunteers.
“We want to reach out and let you know that despite not being able to fundraise we will always be there, when you need us, to save lives at sea.
“We need your help to weather this storm.”
