FIREFIGHTERS rushed to tackle a blaze involving a caravan and house in Bournemouth.

A section of the A348 Ringwood Road eastbound was closed by police while emergency services responded to the incident after being called out at 11.09am on Friday, July 24.

Bournemouth North Police team said people should avoid the area and residents nearby should stay inside their properties.

The fire involved a caravan, a campervan and a deteched house, with six fire engines and the aerial ladder platform attending the scene.

A Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: "We were called to Ringwood Road, Bournemouth at 11.09am for a fire involving a caravan, campervan and the adjacent detached house.

"Six fire crews attended, from Redhill Park, Ferndown, Westbourne, Poole (two) and Springbourne, together with the aerial ladder platform from Westbourne.

"Six breathing apparatus wearers have used two main jets and two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire, and the stop came at 12.06pm, although we continue to damp down."

There were reports of road closures in place at Mountbatten Roundabout.

The incident was near the retail park.

Morebus said X6 services were being diverted via Turbarry Park Avenue, Kinson Road, and Wallisdown Road, with buses unable to serve three stops along the A348.

A Dorset Police spokeswoman said: "We received a report at around 11.10am on Friday, July 24, of a caravan on fire on Ringwood Road in Bournemouth.

"Officers are currently in attendance assisting the fire service with road closures."

At around 1.15pm, police reported that the road had reopened.
