ARGOS has confirmed that its store on Post Office Road in Bournemouth will not reopen as the retailer plans to close up to 70 stores nationwide.

The store in Bournemouth town centre was closed in March due to the coronavirus outbreak but store workers have been told the shop will be closing permanently next month.

An Argos spokesperson said: “Last September we announced a review of our estate, which included plans to close 60 to 70 standalone Argos stores.

“Following the review, we have let our colleagues in our Post Office Road store know that the store will be closing next month. All colleagues have been given the opportunity to redeploy to other available roles in the area.

“Customers can continue to shop with us at our nearby Bournemouth store, which is a short drive away. Our click and collect service is also available from a number of Sainsbury’s stores in the area.”

Argos recently started operating a collection point in the Sainsbury’s store on Christchurch Road in Boscombe.

Between 8am and 9am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, the store will be dedicated to serving elderly and disabled customers.

Whereas NHS and Social Care workers will be prioritised between 7.30am and 8am from Monday to Saturday, as long as they have a relevant pass or ID.
