POOLE Lifeboat were tasked to numerous incidents last week, including paddleboarders in difficulty and a missing kayaker.

On Thursday, July 16 at 9.45am Poole Inshore Lifeboat was requested to launch to assist two paddleboarders believed to be in difficulty around Furzey Island.

The D Class arrived quickly on the scene following receiving information from a kite surfer who had been in the area with the paddleboarders and had gone ashore to raise the alarm.

The team began to conduct a shoreline search of the north shore of Furzey Island, made easier by the clear and calm conditions.

The D Class spoke to people on boats who were in the area and then carried on with the search down the south side of Brownsea Island, but nothing untoward was found.

During this search, the volunteers from Poole Coastguard rescue team had arrived on scene at Baiter where they located the paddleboarders, who were safe on shore.

The following day, a lifeboat was launched after 7pm in search of a kayaker who had failed to return.

The Coastguard received a 999 call from two people who were on Arne Beach .

A kayaker had dropped them there and had failed to return, resulting in the casualties raising the alarm.

The Atlantic proceeded to search for the overdue kayaker while the D Class recovered the informants on Arne Beach.

The casualties were returned to Lake Pier by the D class and it was then established that the missing kayaker was ashore.

Volunteers from Poole and Southbourne Coastguard were also in attendance.

Shortly afterwards, the alarm was raised at 1.30am on Saturday, July 18 for the lifeboat to launch.

A 22 foot Bayliner with four people on-board had broken down near Poole Quay Boat Haven.

The passengers on the stricken vessel had put an anchor down but they ended up drifting and requested assistance.

On arrival the crew found that two passengers had been in the water and were very cold.

The lifeboat took the boat under tow across to Poole Quay Boat Haven.

During this time another person on board quickly became unwell and an ambulance was requested.

The casualty was transferred to the ambulance for further treatment and the lifeboat returned to station.
