A REPEAT offender has been jailed for six months after his latest string of thefts across Bournemouth, along with drug possession and assault offences.

Ross Samuel Norman, aged 27 and of West Cliff Road, Bournemouth, appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Monday, July 6.

The defendant admitted six theft offences, two drug possession offences and a single assault offence, some of which occurred during the coronavirus lockdown.

Norman’s latest series of offences led magistrates to implement a suspended prison sentence he had been given in March.

Along with a two-month prison sentence to run consecutively, this took his overall length of sentence to six months behind bars.

All of the crimes took place in Bournemouth between May 3 and July 3.

The details on the spate of crimes which ended up with Norman appearing in the dock earlier this month are as follows:

  • Stole £28 worth of meat from Tesco in Bournemouth, on May 3. Committed to prison for two months concurrent.
  • Assaulted Ross Gear by beating him in Bournemouth on May 3. Committed to prison for two months concurrent.
  • Took a bottle of alcohol worth £45 from Tesco in Riverside Avenue, Bournemouth, on May 18. Committed to prison for two months concurrent.
  • Stole an electric shave worth £79.99 from Boots in Commercial Road, Bournemouth, on May 23. Committed to pay prison for two months concurrent and ordered to pay £79,99 compensation.
  • Theft of £90.09 worth of cosmetics from Boots in Commercial Road, Bournemouth, on June 9. Committed to prison for two months concurrent.
  • Stole £75 worth of cosmetics and foodstuffs from Co-op in Madeira Road, Bournemouth, on July 3. Committed to prison for two months consecutive.
  • Took £80 worth of Salmon from Tesco Express in The Triangle, Bournemouth, on June 30. Committed to prison for two months concurrent.
  • Caught with 0.3grams of amphetamine, a class B drug, in Madeira Road, Bournemouth, on July 3. Committed to prison for two months concurrent. Drugs to be forfeited and destroyed.
  • Caught with 0.7grams of cannabis, a class B drug, in Madeira Road, Bournemouth, on July 3. Committed to prison for two months concurrent.
  • Suspended sentences of four months in prison issued on March 26 for 11 separate theft offences implemented concurrently.
