BOURNEMOUTH is set to get a new four-star hotel when The Queen’s Hotel and Spa reopens after a £3.5m refurbishment.

Visitors are due to be welcomed back to the Dorset coast from July as the Covid-19 lockdown is lifted and The Queen’s Hotel and Spa will be waiting with open arms as soon as government guidelines allow.

All 109 en-suite bedrooms now have designer furnishings, 50-inch Smart TVs, complimentary high-speed WiFi and luxurious in-room amenities.

The Art Deco hotel in Meyrick Road, formerly a three-star with a long history of serving Bournemouth’s holidaymakers and locals, closed to the public in March in line with government guidelines.

Since then the hotel, in a prime position on the East Cliff, has been open only to key workers but its long-planned complete refurbishment plans went ahead alongside this vital service to the community.

The new interior celebrates the hotel’s 80-year history and architecture with a glamorous Art Deco feel celebrating all that is great about the British seaside.

And this year more than ever those values are set to be appreciated, with many people holidaying on home shores due to the pandemic.

The Queen’s Hotel offers three beautifully decorated conference suites accommodating up to 200 guests for weddings, meetings and functions.

The wide range of upgraded leisure facilities on offer include relaxing treatments in The Pangolin Spa, a heated indoor pool, and The Cut gym which boasts state-of-the-art Keiser equipment.

The Queen’s has an all-day coffee shop, the Kraken Bar for a relaxing drink and the Green Room restaurant which serves quality British cuisine.

On its reopening The Queen’s Hotel and Spa will become part of the international Accor Hotels chain rebranding as a Mercure.

Operations Director Karl Goebel said: “We are very excited to be able to welcome visitors to our refurbished four-star hotel.

“We have been working hard on both the upgrade to our facilities and ensuring the safety, protection and comfort of our visitors as we open after the pandemic.

“Our staff have been fully trained in new hygiene practises in line with government and Accor guidelines and we have teamed up with Ecolab so we can reassure our visitors that their safety is our priority.

“Come and see us – we can’t wait to welcome you to our new hotel.”
