YELLOW Buses has issued guidance on how to make your own face mask, as it became mandatory to wear a facial covering on public transport.

The face coverings do not have to be medical masks and can be made using an old t-shirt.

Firstly, cut a straight line across the width of an old t-shirt, 20cm from the bottom of the shirt.

Then cut a rectangle through both side of the fabric 15cm and 2cm from the top and bottom.

Cut through the right-hand side, top and bottom, unfold and place over your face, tie the top and behind your head and the bottom behind your neck.

People exempt from wearing facemasks include those with breathing difficulties, mental health conditions, non-visible disabilities, cognitive impairments, visual impairments, those who rely on lip-reading and children under 11.
