A SEARCH was carried following a report of a man on railway tracks in the Christchurch area.

The incident at Burton was reported to Dorset Police at 7.24pm on Monday evening (June 15).

British Transport Police confirmed officers attended an area of railway near Stony Lane after they were called at 7.29pm.

A spokesperson said: “Officers attended and carried out a wide search of the area, however the man was not located.”

Train services were disrupted on Monday evening as a result of the incident.

South Western Railway services were delayed with disruption expected until 10pm.

The train operator said trains were running at a reduced speed between New Milton and Bournemouth as a precaution.
