A DRUNKEN man got into difficulty on the seafront cliff in Bournemouth.

Coastguard teams from Southbourne and Lymington were called to the Fisherman’s Walk area at 6.46pm on June 14 to assist and located the casualty when they arrived on the scene.

He was on the cliff along with two police officers who managed to persuade the casualty to descend the cliff, however, they only managed a short distance.

This resulted in the coastguard team having to set-up their technical rescue equipment for a rope rescue of the casualty and the police officers.

They deployed two cliff technicians, one for the casualty and the other to assist the police officers.

Once with the casualty, who became very agitated, the coastguard teams managed to deploy a rescue sling and slowly and safely descended the cliff to the bottom and transferred the casualty to the awaiting ambulance and more police officers.

The teams then stowed away their equipment and returned to station.
