HENGISTBURY Head NCI can confirm that it will be resuming operations with effect from May 23.

This follows the announcement by Board of Trustees of the National Coastwatch Institution on May 20 that the NCI is now able to gradually re-open its lookout stations in England.

In order to comply with restrictions and advice from the Government, NCI National and MCA watches will be single manned in the Lookout with a remote phone buddy Watchkeeper.

Social distancing and hygiene measures will be strictly adhered to and only Watchkeepers who are willing and able (and not in any vulnerable category) will be rostered.

A spokesperson for Hengistbury Head said: "We are delighted to be able, once again, to have ‘eyes along the coast’ helping to keep our community safe whether at work or leisure along our coastline and thank everyone for their support."

To begin with, the Hengistbury Head station will be operational Friday to Monday from 10am to 7pm.

Changes to opening times and/or operational changes will be posted on the Hengistbury Head social media pages and station website: www.hhnci.org.uk.
