ROTARY Clubs across the conurbation have pulled togetehr their resources and funding in order to offer their support during the current lockdown.

Westbourne Rotary Club have helped to distribute food donations to vulnerable individuals during the current pandemic.

Having helped to donate food to Bournemouth Foodbank and the homeless with the support of business partners Harvest Fine Foods, the club has now stepped up its contributions to help those that need it most.

Secretary Sue Burnett said: “Now we are also providing daily meals to a group of homeless that have been accommodated in local hotels, weekly packed lunches to group of rough sleepers via St Lukes Church in Winton, as well as collecting donations of cotton fabrics and organising volunteer drivers to collect and deliver to members of For the Love of Scrubs-East Dorset.

“It’s amazing how many people have a real desire to volunteer to help during this time and we thank all Rotary members and people in the community for all their assistance.

“Living in these different times brings out the best in the British public.”

Christchurch Rotary Club have also shown their support for frontline workers by helping to purchase a gazebo for staff at Royal Bournemouth Hospital to use.

Rotarian David Rogers said: “Led by Jill and Rotarian David Crumpler, the Club was able to fund a gazebo, have a logo printed on it and have it delivered to the Hospital.

“It has been equipped with chairs and tea-making equipment, and social distancing can be maintained within it.

“It was the intention that staff would be able to relax in safety with their colleagues.”

Bournemouth Hospital Charity Fundraising Manager Karen Smith added: "Thank you Christchurch Rotary for responding to our request for help, your support has been invaluable."
