Coda: A Musical Variety Evening, Regent Centre, Christchurch

A WEALTH of local musical talent was highlighted at this concert, in aid of the Highcliffe-based Coda Music Therapy Unit.

The show covered a wide musical spectrum, featuring the Stromenti String Quartet, Swing Unlimited Big Band, Victorian Brass and the Plonkers Agricultural Orchestra.

But there was another star of this show in the person of compere Nicholas Filbee, whose humorous antics at the piano were reminiscent of the great Victor Borge.

The Stromenti String Quartet is becoming well known locally for its entertaining concerts, and also plays for weddings and other functions far and wide.

Stromenti gave its usual entertaining and exuberant performance.

Swing Unlimited Big Band is quite a force to be reckoned with. The sheer volume of the performance rocked the theatre as the musicians threw themselves into the spirit of the music.

The Plonkers Agricultural Orchestra brought a flavour of rural Hampshire, including songs about well known New Forest characters. Their performance ended with the well known rustic anthem I Am A Cider Drinker.
