I WRITE this as a lifelong supporter of the Conservative party. However, I find Conor Burns’ behaviour regarding misuse of his position utterly repugnant.

My understanding is that Mr Burns has been ‘under investigation’ for this since last July, so why was it felt appropriate for him to hold a government post whilst this was still active? There was never any doubt that he sent the letter – the hearing was to determine his motives and how he should be censured and I find it incredible that someone under investigation should hold a ministerial post.

I am deeply offended by this (and I’m sure many others are) and, for the first time ever find myself questioning the party.

I would urge Mr Burns to stand down as an MP – the many hard working Conservative politicians, both locally and nationally, do not deserve to be harmed by your appalling behaviour.
