GOOD impressions abounded as a packed Friday night crowd enjoyed real value for money from four comics.
Opener John Newton's observational comedy and sharp one-liners were sometimes let down by a one-paced delivery that never quite fired an audience ready to warm to their evening's entertainment.
Budding comic Hannah George from the Isle of Wight clearly enjoyed her open mic slot and there's genuine talent and some strong material to shine through in the future once she hones some of her timing and takes control of the delivery.
Stefano Paulini's shortened set was a revelation considering that his last visit here was fairly forgettable.
Riffing on his Italian upbringing with some very funny domestic tales and even better vocal gymnastics, using the mic to great effect, he went down a storm.
Scot Geoff Boys' measured and warm-hearted delivery suits a very professional raconteur style that finished the night off with a flourish.
His London underground and airline pilot routines were hilarious and an encore of De Niro, Pacino and Pesci impersonations were the icing on a very tasty comedy cake.
