A FORMER Wimborne pupil and British junior tennis champion is now a golden girl in television after scooping a prestigious international award.

Caroline Hunt, 34, has won a Golden Globe for her TV sports trailer at the International Television Awards held in Monte Carlo.

Hosted annually by Prince Albert of Monaco, the awards ceremony is the pinnacle of recognition in international sports television production.

Caroline, who is now based in Spain, won the award for her one-minute trailer The Ultimate Duel, made to promote the America's Cup Match.

It was broadcast on TV, the internet and in cinemas worldwide.

She said: "It brings much delight to me and my colleagues that following the huge success of the 32nd America's Cup in Valencia, that the event has once again been acknowledged on an international stage for its excellence, hard work and commitment of all those involved.

"I have been working in television sports production since 1995 and specialise in broadcast event and venue management, production and distribution on major international and special sports events."

She was presented with her award, a Raymond Moretti sculpture, by retired athlete Sergei Bubka.

During her 12-year media career Caroline has held many posts including production manager, broadcast venue manager and executive in charge of production.

But before the lights of TV beckoned, the former Queen Elizabeth School pupil was a professional tennis player for six years on the international circuit.

"This played a big part in her move into the television and event world," said dad Peter, who still lives locally.

"I am very proud of her."

Caroline is a member of the West Hants tennis Club in Bournemouth, and during the late '80s and early '90s won a series of Dorset junior and senior tennis titles.
