A CARE home in Bournemouth has maintained its perfect record of achieving 'Good' in all areas following its latest inspection.

Wickmeads care home in Wickmeads Road, Tuckton, retained its ‘Good’ rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Inspectors found residents “received care from staff who knew them well and treated them with kindness, compassion, respect and dignity”.

In the report, they said: “People’s care was tailored to their individual needs and maintained their independence as much as possible.

“Staff knew people very well, what their interests and hobbies were, and what things were important to them.

“A member of staff told us ‘we put all our residents first… relatives are always made to feel very welcome, they become part of the family’.”

The report also included comments from residents and relatives who said: “The carers are lovely, they work hard and they do really seem to care.”

Tracey Walker, Wickmeads home manager, said the passion and dedication of staff deserved praise.

She said: “It’s great to see staff being recognised for all their hard work. They put the care and happiness of our residents at the heart of everything they do, as highlighted by the kind comments from residents and relatives.”

Wickmeads is a 50-bed care home located a short walk from the River Stour and Tuckton Gardens.

It offers residential and dementia care tailored to each resident’s needs, as well as respite stays.

Aaron Whitehead, Care South's director of residential care, added: “It’s great to see staff maintaining high standards of compassionate and person-centred care at Wickmeads, and they should be very proud of this latest CQC rating. It’s also great to see new home manager Tracey being praised for her role since arriving at the care home in January.”
