Health secretary Matt Hancock has announced he has tested positive for coronavirus and is self-isolating. 

Mr Hancock said he had been advised to test for the virus following medical advice.

In an announcement on Twitter at around 1pm today, he said his symptoms are mild.

Mr Hancock said: “Following medical advice, I was advised to test for #Coronavirus. I‘ve tested positive.

"Thankfully my symptoms are mild and I’m working from home & self-isolating. Vital we follow the advice to protect our NHS & save lives.”

The news comes just hours after Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced he had coronavirus earlier today.
