MARCH 20 saw Boris Johnson announce that all cafes, pubs, bars, restaurants, nightclubs, theatres, cinemas, gyms and leisure centres were to close, with immediate effect.

But what does this mean for our local parks and outdoor spaces?

The past weekend saw a surge in people visiting parks, beaches and more, potentially resulting in further restrictions from the government.

We have rounded up a list of local outdoor spaces that have closed car parks, cafes and the entire area itself as a result of coronavirus.

Studland Bay

On Sunday, Studland Bay announced that they have closed the Knoll and Middle car parks as well as all National Trust toilets.

However, Shell and South car parks remain open.

Kingston Lacy

The decision was made to close all of the houses, gardens, parks, toilets, cafes and shops to further restrict the spread of coronavirus.

Hengistbury Head Visitor Centre and Local Nature Reserve

This popular destination stated on March 19 that the Visitor Centre is closed.

The reserve remains open so visitors can continue to enjoy the wildlife and fresh air whilst social distancing.

Upton House and Country Park

The Country Park remains open, but if anything changes updates will be made to their Facebook page and website.

The Tea Rooms, the Gallery Upstairs and Upton House Kiosk are all closed until further notice.

The mobile ‘Pod in the Park’ is operating and can be found adjacent to the new Spurrier’s Play Park, providing a take away refreshments service only.

All events up to May 31 have also been cancelled.

Durlston Country Park

Following government advice, all public buildings at Durlston Country Park are closed until further notice.

This includes the Castle (Visitor Centre), Seventhwave Cafe, Learning Centre and all toilets.

The park remains open, but social distancing is encouraged.

Poole and Bournemouth Parks

Parks in Poole and Bournemouth such as Meyrick Park, Poole Park and Kings Park remain open, but this may be subject to change.

To keep updated, visit the BCP Council website and search under the Poole section.

Alternatively, you can call: 01202 261700.

Moors Valley Country Park

Moors Valley is now fully closed to all visitors until further notice.

National Trust Parks

National Trust car parks will be closed by the end of Tuesday, March 24, in a further attempt to help restrict the spread of coronavirus and to encourage the public to stay local and observe social distancing.

RSPB Arne

The nature reserve was closed on Tuesday, March 24. Site managers said the safety and well-being of staff, volunteers and visitors will always be their priority and they must act in accordance with current government instructions.
