LINDSAY Road in Poole will be closed for two weeks so repairs can be made to an electricity cable.

The road will be closed at the junction with Leicester Road starting on Monday, March 9, lasting just under two weeks and are scheduled to finish on Friday, March 27.

The works will enable SSEN to carry out repair works to locate, excavate and repair damage on a 33,000V fluid filled high voltage mains cable.

This will ensure electricity supply will be maintained to residents and business in the area.

A diversion will be in place via Poole Road and Bournemouth Road.

There was a lane closure at the turning for Lindsay Road in October last year as Gas Transportation Co Ltd installed a connection.

Drivers reported at the time that traffic was slowing to a crawl as a result of the works.

Elsewhere, part of the A348 Ringwood Road in Bournemouth will be closed next week for emergency sewer repairs.

The dual carriageway will be closed on the northbound side between the Mountbatten and West Howe roundabouts. A diversion will be in place via the A3049, A347 and A341.

The works, which will allow Wessex Water to carry out the repairs, will start at 9.30am on Monday, March 9, and could last up to two weeks.

Wessex Water’s Paul Musselwhite, who is coordinating the work, said: “This is essential and urgent work to repair a deep sewer within the centre of the dual carriageway, so the closure is necessary to create a safe working area.

“We appreciate this is a busy road and our teams will be working extended hours to complete the repairs as quickly as possible. We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused.”

Salisbury Road in Poole will also be closed while SGN upgrades the gas network to “ensure local homes and businesses continue to enjoy a safe and reliable gas supply for many years to come.”

The road will be closed at the junction with Ashley Road from March 9 until March 30 while SGN replace the gas mains.
