AN ELDERLY sales director died in hospital from injuries sustained in a car crash near the village where she lived, an inquest heard.
Angela Joyce Cave, 86, of Over Compton, Sherborne, was the passenger in a vehicle being driven by her husband on January 21.
The inquest that opened into her death at Bournemouth Town Hall on Friday heard that the vehicle collided with a van at the A30 Babylon Hill junction with Marl Lane.
Coroner’s officer Susan Kay said: “She was conveyed to Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton before being transferred to Southmead Hospital in Bristol, where she sadly died from her injuries on January 22.”
Senior coroner for Dorset Rachael Griffin said that a post-mortem examination provided a provisional cause of death as multiple injuries due to a road traffic collision.
Police investigations into her death are still ongoing, the hearing heard.
Mrs Griffin adjourned the inquest until August 26.
A Dorset Police spokesperson said that no arrests had been made in relation to the collision.
