STAFF at a Ferndown bookies were 'threatened at knifepoint' during a robbery last week, police claim.

Two people were allegedly locking up Betfred in Victoria Road just after 10pm on January 31 when they were approached by two men who had their faces covered and were holding knives.

The complainants were allegedly forced back inside the branch before the men demanded money and made threats, police claim.

One of the men reportedly left the store with some coins.

This week, Yannis Young of Minet Avenue in Harlesden, North West London, appeared at Poole Magistrates' Court in connection with the incident.

Prosecutor allege the 34-year-old robbed the Betfred of £150 in cash.

Young was remanded into custody ahead of a plea and trial preparation hearing at Bournemouth Crown Court next month.
