A MAN has appeared in the dock after a bar customer was left fighting for life in an alleged assault last week.
Manuel Caldeira, of Randolph Road in Bournemouth, has been charged with committing grievous bodily harm with intent after an incident at Bar 7 in Boscombe.
The 56-year-old appeared at Poole Magistrates' Court this week.
He is accused of seriously injuring Joseph Cirilo Ascensio Fernandes, who is in his 60s, after an incident on Saturday, January 25.
Mr Fernandes was found in a doorway near the bar at around 8.50pm that night.
It is alleged he had been involved in a row inside the pool bar at around 7.30pm. He was then allegedly assaulted outside the venue.
Police have described his injuries as "potentially life-threatening" and he remains in hospital.
