A SHOPLIFTER has been banned from a Poole supermarket for a year after pleading guilty to committing two offences in the aisles.
Stephen Bateman, of Whatleigh Close in Poole, stole meat worth £18.70 from Sainsbury's in Orchard Plaza on June 21 last year.
During the same incident, he assaulted a man.
The 28-year-old appeared at Poole Magistrates' Court last week to admit both offences.
He was fined £200 and ordered to pay a total of £59.35 in compensation, as well as a £35 surcharge and £85 costs.
Bateman was also ordered to keep away from the branch until January 2021.
Lucy Sumner, 21 and of Russell Gardens, Poole, also admitted stealing meat during the same day.
She was handed a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £9.35 compensation, a £20 surcharge and £85 costs.
