SALTY sea dogs took to the water off Poole Quay for an epic sea battle and waterfront antics.

The teams included a Roman Bath - complete with sea horses and moving water wheels - a Loch Ness monster crew and the odd Viking.

After a promising start the baths, because of their very nature, began filling up with water from the cruel sea.

Many crews didn’t pull the plug - despite getting that sinking feeling - and they somehow continued to move as they barely surfaced above the water.

Those who were forced to hang up their oars turned their attentions to scuppering the progress of rivals with water fights.

The charity race was organised by Jim Kellaway, landlord of the quayside Lord Nelson pub.

The first crew to finish were the team from Poole Canoe Club and the event raised several hundreds of pounds for the Jubilee Sailing Trust.
