ON DECEMBER 23, Sunday Roast Deliveries held their annual Homeless Feed at The Catholic Church of the Sacred Heart.

This event saw Sunday Roast Deliveries Founder Paul Lavery, staff and volunteers provide a three- or four-course meal and essentials to over 25 homeless people.

After Paul's appeal for help early in December last year, he was inundated with donations and offers of providing help, in whatever way possible.

He said: "My front room was packed with donations. One woman brought a huge plastic tub that was full of brand new hygiene products."

Bubbles Hair and Care, who Paul works closely with throughout the year, offered support for the event, along with County Foods and Harvest Fine Foods who provided the food for the roast dinners.

But it wasn't only the public and local businesses who donated and helped Paul.

McVities donated two large boxes full of goodies for the Feed, and Homebase provided Christmas decorations in order for Paul to deck the halls of the church.

The volume of donations wasn't the only impressive aspect of the event for Paul.

He explained: "We had eight volunteers, which included children. It's great that people brought their children to the event. It helped to give them a wider understanding of helping others."

Due to the large volume of food donated, Paul and his volunteers had some leftover food which they took to those on the streets of Bournemouth.

Feeding more mouths than planned also occurred during Paul's Christmas hostel feeds, where he was able to provide 18 more people with a Christmas dinner.

Paul said: "Those 18 extra people were fed just through the generosity of our customers who bought a three-course meal from us.

"We had a lot of contact from people beforehand offering their support."
